Hi Babak

Texas Dave was barred from all fora before I took over the Philosophy site. As far as I know he was barred by the owner, Lisa, but I don't think it was because of his opinion or belief. Rather it was, I guess, because of the way in which he belittles other posters to the discussions.

For example, his post in another thread to Freebubbles - "You are not a Christian" - is not reasoned discussion, it's just gratuitous insult to someone who has already stated that she does see herself as a christian. Not as good a christian as Texas Dave, is the implication.

I personally have no intention of banning Texas Dave from this forum - in fact I don't even have the power to do so - but neither do I intend to get caught up in petty point scoring. If any other visitors to the Philosophy forum wish to engage with him then please feel free to do so but be aware that his general approach is to draw you in then browbeat you with dogma. Consider his post "Engage me if you dare". This is not about christianity or truth, this is about Texas Dave's ego which seems to assert itself through belligerence. If you are compassionate enough to subject yourself to that kind of attack, perhaps because you reckon he needs to feel important, then you're a better man than I am.

Unless of course you're a woman crazy

Thanks Chik J Duncan.

I have to ask a question from all the members here. Has anyone succeeded in making people more aware about her/his belief? Has any Hindu succeeded? Or a Buddhist or a Christian? How to conduct the dialogue so that fanaticism can be avoided and new thingsbe learned about other faiths for more peace in the world?

CDM, as you know, I have always been open and receptive towards those who have engaged in discussion on Buddhist doctrine.... as Buddhists we are discouraged from proselytising, so I do not speak of Buddhist matters where others are not curious.
If more Christians on this forum were as open as Thomas Merton, then the world would be a nicer place, though....
This is a good article, by way of an explanation

As a Buddhist have you succeeded in helping people know more about your religion? I see more arguments than exchanges. Condust a poll to find out thereality. Somehow we are all blocking each other.
I remember one great lawyer saying- Tell a story. why not tell a small story of Buddism to begin with?

Very well, but am having difficulty convincing my Christian fellow-posters that there's more to Life than just their point of View.
