I usually use foundation and have tried brands like Marcellle and Loreal, etc...Marcelle True Radiance seems to be one of the better ones' for me...

Lately, I have tried wearing just a pressed powder on it's own and the results seem to be better than it was together with the foundation...I am using Maybelline Shine Free pressed powder and it looks very natural...I don't wear a lot of make-up so this works for me...

It lasts for most of the day without touch-ups or blotting..My face doesn't look as oily using just a powder...

I was just wondering what everyone prefers using...foundation or powder? What brands are you happy with?

Hi Franny. I'm a liquid foundation gal myself. I stopped using powder long ago. I think it must have been in my mid thirties, maybe. It was at the time when the formulas for the liquid and creme foundations changed a bit. I recall the first ads I saw for them, 'no powder necessary', or something like that. I had never had a problem with oily skin, and to be honest, I didn't care for the flat or dulled look, powder gave me. To me, it was a false-face look. Once I tried the new foundations, I trashed the powder, for good.

I had always used liquid and couldn't imagine using a powder base until I tried Bare Escentuals. I started using Obagi skin care products and my face initially peeled. The liquid base looked awful when my skin was in this condition so a friend suggested I try the Bare Escentuals powder base. I absolutely love it. The coverage is great. It is so quick to apply. It lasts all day and is great for your skin.

Hi Kay,

Thanks, for telling me about the product Bare Escentuals...
would you happen to have the site for this product and the exact name of the powder so that I may take a look at it?

Is it for normal or oily skin?

thanks so much!

Hi Jeannine,

I have tried the new liquid/creme foundations, but they looked cakey on me...

I think since you don't have oily skin that could be why it works for you, but for someone like me who has oily/combination skin a powder gives just enough coverage and I feel it helps keep my skin tone even and more natural looking and I don't have to keep reapplying it which is one less thing to do in my day...lol

Thanks for letting me know what you prefer...:)

by the way, which brand do you use, if you don't mind me asking?

Hi Franny,

I normally purchase it from QVC. The link is at: http://www.qvc.com/asp/frameset.asp?clas...IDENAV-_-BEAUTY

I have not previously purchased from QVC but I have been pleased with my experience with this item. They actually have a helpful website that can guide you through the process of selecting the right color. I believe it is for any type of skin. My skin is dry and it works great and I have a friend who uses it and her skin is oily.

You can also purchase it at Sephora.

If you buy some be sure and let us know how you like it!

Well, that link doesn't seem to get you directly to the item. On the left, under Brand Shops, click Bare Escentuals, then click on Face Basics. The item is called BareMinerals, item #A17648.

Not necessarily. My skin is dry and powder base works fine for me.
