I would take your cat to the vet. Once they're older many develop thyroid problems...

It may be gorging itself by eating too much. Try breaking the meal into smaller sessions.

We have a 10-year old and a 9-year old cat. The 10-year old is a neutered male and he's a fluffy one, not super long fur, but a lot longer than a shorthair. Closest breed is a Maine Coon - he looks like those. He used to throw up bunches, too. Three things changed:

1. We stopped giving the cats a small can of tuna to share every evening (an indulgence, I know, but they loved it so much)

2. We got hardwood floors installed instead of carpet (not just for the cats' benefit!)

3. We switched to an adult indoor cat, anti-hairball dry cat food.

They also don't have any dairy now, except for the occasional few shreds of cheese, and feed from their dry food as they see fit.

Good luck! I know all too well what it's like cleaning up cat vom every day. *sigh* Woolite's "Pet Stain Remover" works wonders on carpet. :-)

(Jim Colyer, this forum is for cat lovers. If you don't like cats, don't read or post in here)

Not sure if this will help. I can only tell you about my cats. My cats use to throw up after eating all the time. I noticed it was when I gave them salmon. Every single time. I stopped the salmon and like magic no more throwing up. Only the regular hair ball kind of throwing up. lol <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Give it a try. [color:"blue"] [/color]

I have one cat that also overeats, yes shes also overweight, but 3-4 times a wk. she will throw up. I have taken her to the vet, feed only the 'Premium' food..PLEASE stay away from many of the store brand foods, not only are they full of '[censored]' especially many 'dies' as someome mentioned. Even though you 'think' the premium food cost more, your cat eats less & gets more of the vitiamins, also your cat bow will 'smell nicer' & you won't be changing it that much. Your PET will be getting more of what it needs, so they eat less, so less waste, I had a Springer who made 'poddle poops'. I'v had cats all my life, been in Animal rescue over 30 yrs, now have my own own non-profit Rescue. So read what is in the food you feed your pet, if the first ing. is corn, look for one that has Lamb, chicken or anything but corn as their first ing., animals like us don't digest it well, so all we have is 'more' to pick up, or our boxes need changing more. Lets keep out 'furry friends' healthy. Hugs, Pegi

I had a cat who lived to be 16 who threw up quite often. I got him some feline digestive enzymes at the health food store and it seemed to help.

Can anyone recommend a good quality cat food? I get my dogs Solid Gold and am not afraid to spend the money but not sure which are the best. I use Purina One now plus my 3 cats split a can of cat food each day.

I have a little newsletter called Whole Dog Journal and it's wonderful for dogs' issues. Is there one for cats out there?
