Hey, Harleygirl...

First of all, you might want to turn off your caps lock, so people don't think you're shouting.

Almost all new piercings swell up to varying degrees. Part of why ring jewelry is recommended for new piercings is because there are no ends that then get trapped in the swelling.

You should go back to the place you got it pierced and have someone actually take a look your nose piercing. If the end is almost being lost inside the piercing, you might really want to get a larger piece of jewelry, as that can lead to healing problems or the formation of scar tissue if it rubs too much.

I wish I had read this post a few weeks ago... I probably would have saved myself the problems I had the last week or so. I too was having the little scabbing on a bump that would go away, or wake up in the morning to find my stud "imbedded" into the piercing.

If I had it all to do over again, I would have gone back to the tattoo shop & have them change the jewelry to something longer.

I posted this same info on another message board, but here goes again:

I had my nose repierced last night & told the guy I had that "embedded" look going on. He said the jewelry itself was not too short (he measured my old screw against the new one he had just made for me) but that the person who did it before probably used an 18 gauge needle to insert the 20 gauge screw. He actually showed me the needle & my new screw to prove to me that they were both the same size.

After having it done this 2nd time w/the smaller needle, there was little to no bleeding, almost no pain afterward & this morning the stud is still sitting happily above my skin.

I hope this helps someone else out!
