Just finished baking a cinnamon-walnut coffee cake for a party tomorrow and realized I forgot to add the one tablespoon of vanilla extract. How fatal is this going to be, and can I do anything about it now, e.g. icing maybe? Help! I have company tomorrow.

I'd just add vanilla to the icing and call it a day.

It isnt really crucial, but here is a small tip I hope it works:
add the tablespoon in a warm glass of milk, and maybe a little bit of sugar, depending on how sweet your cake is, if it can hold a little bit more sweetness, then add more sugar, or to really make it yummy add cajeta (sweet goat milk spread).
If you want you can send me the recipe so I can post it in my new blog.
