The whole fundamentalist concept that there is only one truth, only one correct way of being, only one path to enlightenment never worked for me.

As for animism, why not? If all things are created by a higher spirit, they should have just a touch of that spirit within them. The tree in my front yard, for instance, that is determined--no matter what we do to it--to grow its limbs so that they over-hang our porch. Who's to say it doesn't have a spirit or a will to enable it to do so? It's not talking, so I can't interview it and find out. 8o)

Megan,
It is both. The Bible is the literal Word of God. It contains a literal path to salvation and underneath a spiritual message for the disciple. For instance, When Jesus performed His first miracle. He turned water into wine. The wine represented His blood and was setting up the practice of communion at the last supper. It was done in clay pots that were used for cerimonial washing by the Jews for purification. In other words, Jesus' blood is for purification. There is a lot more to it than that but I would have to retype the whole chapter from my book on this.

Megan,
Why don't you ask me academic questions and test me? Not broad questions but specific.

The truth is frightening if you've put your life in the lie.

It doesn't scare me... it annoys me. Why would I want to be part of a religion where my brethren were all so flippin' obnoxious!?

What academic questions? Most of your posts are mockeries, not serious questions.
