But we are supposed to give praise to the Lord always, and rejoice!

I believe it's in Luke 19 where Jesus gets onto the pharisees (well, when doesn't he?) for wanting to stop people for praising Him. He says, "If these keep silent, then the stones will cry out".

So we are supposed to sing our praises! If we walk around being miserable Christians, then how do we show people the love and joy of Jesus Christ? They should know we have something to CELEBRATE!

I am not miserable. I am joyous for myself and for other Christians. But what is there to have joy about unrepentant sinners who are destined for hell? If I love my neighbor as I love myself how can I watch my neighbor go into damnation with joy? It is my responsibility to spread the good news and lead souls to Christ. Then even the angels in Heaven will rejoice.

how about this....it doesn't matter what one is positive about, the truism for happy-guitar-man is that in that moment, (and perhaps several thereafter), he felt positive, and hell, man, ya can't beat a good moment now and then.....And sure, truth is subjective, but again, hey, is that just coz I said it to be so??

physika,
If truth were subjective then it wouldn't be truth. It would be opinion. Can something exist and not exist at the same time? No. Both cannot be true. One must be true and one must be false. God either exists in reality or He does not exist in reality. He does exist. Regardless of someone's belief or non-belief.

Michelle, you are so funny. Anyway my son and I are teaching ourselves with books ....Mel Bays Modern Guitar Method Grade 1 and if you allready play piano then you will have no problem with the notes. I don't play piano but heard that they are similar note wise. I did buy a video tape but they just went way too fast for me so a book is better. They also have, but I have not seen it, a computer program to learn. Good luck.

Guitar playing is a lot trickier than piano as you've got 6 strings to deal with rather than one keyboard!

I'm self-taught, and found the best way to learn was by having it close at hand so I could noodle around on it whenever the urge took me. Once you feel familiar with it then learning tunes will come easier

A piano has a lot more strings than a guitar.

Well cock-a-doodle-do! Are you a guitarist then davey love? God! If your IQ was any lower you'd need watering, wouldn't you? I think that what divided was trying to explain to you is that with a guitar you have 6 strings, each with a series of individual notes on it (check this bit), whereas a piano has one keyboard with a series of notes that just bang on a connected string. Therefore there's 6 times more combitnations of notes*. Probably. I'm a brilliant guitarist, probably better than Jimmy Hendrix, although I love his work.

* which means...oh just look it up

Yeah, that's kinda what confuses me, LOL

The trumpet & trombone completely blow my mind (no pun intended).

I mean, How do you get all of those notes out of three little knobs and one slide thingy that you just hope winds up in the right space!?!?

I like my piano! One key for one note (well, Ok 2 if you consider sharps and flats - but you know what I mean)

Maybe I'll just take up the drums - that sounds fun, and imagine the stress I can beat out on those things!

No, I'm not a guitarist. I tried to play one once but but the noise was so bad I was invited to join the Sex Pistols! LOL! I was just referring to the number of individual strings. Hadn't really thought of the number of possible notes.
