well since you love your life the way it is, it is a good decision not to bring children into it, because once you bring them into it your lives wont be the same.

alot of people do lose their sense of self, and its not to hard to do especially when you have to put someone elses needs ahead of your own.

alot of people dont think about the loss of self that may occur because they are mis informed about parenting to begin with, alot have no clue as to what they are getting into, having a child is glorified as a happy event in ones life, women are pressured by society, family members and sometimes friends to start producing but none of these people inform them that they may experience post partum depression or even have doubts on parenthood when things start to get tough, it is a life changing event and sometimes it is harder for others to get used to the change. but there are lots of good parents out there who share equal responsiblity for the child, but as you said alot do end up resenting their children because they were not quite ready to change their lifestyle and like so many others, they are not told about the negative side of parenting only the positive side.

thank you for your response, it helps me feel better, i dont have a daughter, i have a son, and that presents alot of issues that i will have to deal with as he continues to grow, concerning his adolescence, puberty ect, but i think i will be ready for it, i've been reading parenting books on how to deal with boys at any age. my mom did not provide the nuturing emotional caring side to me growing up and i'm trying to change that by showing that aspect of myself to my son on a daily basis.
