Adam, thank you for your post of enquiry in specifics of my previous post. This has in effect, given cause for me to reinspect my work and found it to be in error. This in respect to my ingrained writing habit and thinking.

You see, I cat walk a thin fence top line here. On the one side, are those (and rightly so)are very sensitive to the past war and the topic of Germany (relative to war time activities)I wish not to risk offense to sensitive readers, as I am non-Polish and a guest here.

I do consider all members here, to be my friends, and friends will protect friends.

I now see (understand) some of the problems that you have out lined. Problem solving is first: what is the problem?

I believe you were first offended by the contents of the artical published by Der Spegiel. I believe the intent was not to leave out specific people such as in this case, Polish people, I understood to mean specifics only in Jewish death camps. Then to include total estimate numbers of all nationalities killed in the war.

There is at this date and time, a special relationship between Israel and modern Germany of today. There for, this relation ship, like or not for many, will be placed fore most in publications.

I do trust, the above sheds some light on the ommissions question.

With the contents of my unfortunant post remarks pertaining to goverment arrest of desident type people. I had used too broad of brush strokes in painting that picture, should have been more specific.

My meaning was in relation ship to the person of Johann georg elser. His attempt upon the life of Adolf Hitler although a failure, should have given encouragement to others of the same mind, but lacking the courage or opportunity.

As it turned out, this was the case of other attempts upon the life of Adolf Hitler being that of the," White Rose Movement". That of Hans and Sophie Scholl and others of the student opposition group in Munich.

The above url is a German site (sorry)but, it contains much more detail of Johann Georg Elser.

I do hold a considerable amount of concern upon your part and others to be correct with these matters of understanding. It is my sincere trust of a good relationship for an accurate exchange of information for the betterment of all.

Charles

Hello Charles. I surely do not wish to put you in an awkward position. If you feel that discussing this topic is not comfortable with you, I wish not to prolong your discomfort. However, since you've mentioned your concern about the betterment of all by means of our mutual exchange, please let me express my conviction that no special sensitivness is required to note ommitting the loss of tens of millions killed by Germans. Especially in an article depicting the piteosly modest -in my opinion -opposition of ethnic Germans against widely and actively supported German nazi rule.
You'd be probably surprised, that even that scarse opposition and existance of decent Germans at that time is appreciated in Poland today. I have two interesting links for you, in both you'll find information about White Rose Movement and much more.

The links are in Polish (sorry!) but provide real insight into 'sensitivness' problem.

I wish you all the best and I would like to express my full consent to the idea you've kindy presented concerning our bilateral sincere trust of a good relationship for an accurate exchange of information.
