No I'm not crocheting X-mas yet but I will probably start about 3 weeks before X-mas and run myself ragged trying to get it done <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Every year I tell myself don't do this but so far I haven't learned, hehehehehe.

I havent been crocheting any decorations, but I make ornaments with polystyrene balls, fabric strips and small straight pins.

Oh ERIN !
I love those Balls. I am going nuts trying to find the instructions I have in my files, cause I can't remember the NAME !! I have seen them made on the Carol Duvall show several times. The ribbon with metalic makes them very festive.
Thanks for the memory !!

I'm crocheting santa claus faces for my grandson's class that they will wear as pins and I am going to make these 5 corner granny squares and you fold them in half and put a bell on them and they look like cute little stockings. So far that is it for the decorations. Grace

I didnt use any directions for my ornaments... I wanted to make ornaments one day, didnt feel like crocheting them, and I have about 120yds of fabric that I collected when I worked in a WalMart fabric dept...so I just rotary cut strips of fabric and wrapped it around the balls until I thought they looked good. I use the plain steel straight pins to tack down the corners of the strips if they stick out a bit.
Worked great...helped me make my patriotic christmas tree look better. I have this massive stash of all sorts of patriotic prints...
I'm probably going to be getting out my fabric stash and my stash of polystyrene balls pretty soon...I'm planning on making some ornaments for my cousins christmas trees soon. I might use some more traditional christmas colors for their ornaments tho...

Temari Balls . That's what they are called !!! I love them. But the math to figure out how to go from point to point is the tick. Whew !

I dont have the skill to make temari balls. I have no math skills whatsoever.
My sister could probably figure it out...she can do all sorts of math. (I flunked algebra 6 times in high school)
I'm pretty sure my niece could do it...I'd be willing to bet she's got better math skills at age 7 than I do now at age 36.
My sister's family is obsessed with japanese origami, so I wouldnt be surprised if they'd be able to figure out temari.

Hi Erin, Don't feel bad I could not do algebra either, I finally got a D and they let me pass with that. I think they just finally gave up and didn't want me in there again. To this day I have no idea how to do algebra.

I had to take Basic Math to get out of high school...they let me go with that...I just needed a specific number of math credits...they didnt have to be algebra, so I went with what was easiest...
I took a Bookkeeping class in college, got a D in that, and a Business math class about a year or so ago that I got a D+ in...at least they were passing grades.
