The reason I ask is because I have found a certain similarity in these 2 groups...

Cf's-don't accept what is expected of them and really analyze the situation (pros vs. cons)of having kids.

People who don't tend to believe in religion also seem to analyze and not accept things at face value.

So, I am just wondering if there are any CF's here who are agnostic/atheist?

Thanks!

I fit that mold!

I'm 37 and although raised as Catholic, I'm now somewhere between athiest, agnostic, and "?" By the "?" I mean I'm searching the Wiccan/Pagan religions and I've found a cool one called Universism.

Your question made me think how intersting it is that I started changing/seeking religion BEFORE I became CF. The CF
may have been harder to decide on for me if I wasn't already questioning the bigger picture.

Yep, count me in as well. I was also raised Catholic, but now consider myself somewhere on the fence between Atheist and Agnostic. My husband and I recently attended a few masses at a local Unitarian Universalist church, and we really enjoyed it. It was a chance to embrace being spiritual in our own way without all of the hooey that comes with mainstream religion. The congregation included Atheists, Agnostics, Pagans, Buddhists and lots of things in between.

They sound like a group I'd like to check out.

Funny how the 2 1st responders happen to be ex-Catholics!

I myself am an atheist. And proud of it, too. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hey Kate,

Did you mean you are an Athiest/Agnostic fence-sitter too?

Good point. I was raised Episcopalean, but have always questioned the whole beliefs of Christianity. I've gone to a few Buddhist places, but still not completely comfortable. I recently looked into a Unitarian Universalist church where I am relocating come December. I've never quite outright proclaimed myself atheist/agnostic, although I feel deep down I really am more agnostic.

anyways, all this questioning does come from the same thought process I go through when I think about how society feels about children.

Just tonight, I heard Dr. Phil tell a feuding mother-in-law , son and daughter-in-law that mother's life was going to change dramatically now that she is a mother-in-law because she is going to be a grandmother...and then he had to correct himself and say that it was not exactly true, but theoretically....HMMPH! How dare Dr. Phil assume just cuz these two people got married that were going to have grandkids!

I was raised Catholic as well... And was devout for the first part of my life. I even considered a calling to the sisterhood, to be a nun. (Thankfully, I realized that I didn't have any such calling!)

These days, the only thing I know for sure is that I am not christian, or any other organized religion. My beliefs are sort of Native American/ancient Celtic, but nothing concrete, so to keep things simple I usually tell people I'm agnostic.
