I don't follow any plan - I just focus on fresh foods and avoid breads, pastas and starches. Sometimes I eat the low carb versions of those but for the most part it's all about meats, veggies, eggs, cheeses, nuts, fruits, wine and lots of water. It sounds more European than anything else, sans the baguettes.

I don't stick to a strict plan (Atkins or South Beach), and I try to mostly avoid Splenda and other fake stuff, but I am NOT a morning person by any means, so I often have an Atkins breakfast bar with my coffee to get me started, and then have an omelette or eggs and bacon for "brunch". Working from home definitely helps as far as being able to take the time to make fresh meals on a good schedule.

Yup I don't necessarily follow any particular plan. I just eat "low carb" - I avoid sugars and starches. Really all of the plans have that at their core.

I agree I'm not a morning person either - I have a low carb shake first thing in the morning because I'm really just not interested in eating anything. An hour or two later I'm awake enough to have some sort of food

Definitely our bodies hold onto weight more as we age, it's a normal part of life. We tend to be less active, and also our metabolism slows down. So it's important to adjust what we eat as we age to match our changing body needs.

I used to follow Atkins to a tee for the past few months since I decided to go on low carb to lose weight but recently 'stop' it & do it my own way as I feel in a way Atkins's kinda restrictive

So now I just watch what I eat & basically avoid the 'bad' carbs & whatever junk food/low fat/fat free/reduced fat products/items that're found in the supermarket + balance the equation out with exercise too

& as for your question whether low carb diets will work , you have to give yourself 2 weeks to see the results that you hope to acheive..
