Hey Jilly...there should be a sticky for folks to post pics of their fish here ! I know you can put a pic on any of the posts, but it would be nice to have a thread dedicated just to pics...

I'll start off.....lol...I love sharing pics and seeing other folks setups ! Click on the thumbnails to enlarge the pics

I call this guy Cinderfella (Cinder for short)...he was a pretty drab brown at the store but I bought him because I liked his eyes (very pretty green). He cleanup up rather nice...lol

How are you getting photos with a digital camera without the flash in the glass? I've had no luck with this, though I know how to take a photo with a regular camera without the flash showing.
It annoys me so much that I don't want to publicize the photos.
Best,
Mary Ellen

I cover the flash with my finger....with the lights in the aquarium I find the flash usually isn't necessary.

If you need to use the flash you can avoid the glare by tilting the camera at an angle instead of shooting straight at the glass.

Well, I'll be. I never thought to cover the flash with my finger!

Room lights on or off?

Tilting the camera has always worked very well with my "other" camera, but for some reason, it's never worked with my digital. I get a gorgeous shot through the viewfinder and a big old white blob on the resulting image. It's sure a good thing I'm not paying for film and development!

Thanks, I'll try it.

Now, do you know anyone with a steel blue female betta they would part with? My gorgeous guy is building bubblenests day and night. He's been one of my dream fish for years...blue with a black head...and I'd love to see his babies.

Mary Ellen, I've been watching Emg's picture taking come along over the years - her first stuff was just like everyone's...middlin shots....and now her fish photos could win awards in fish shows! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> She developed her eye and improved her technique as she went. I recomend to everyone that they KEEP SHOOTING. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Oh, believe me, I know about the cost of developing fish shots. When I first started, I would get flash-in-the-glass and have to toss endless slides unless the flash could be cropped out. Then I'd get perfectly focussed photos of air bubbles, the filter, the algae, or the gravel with the fish waving "sayonara" with its tail.

I love digital cameras, and when I clean the glass and do my next maintenance, I'm going to set up some shots. I don't have photos of the fishes I have now, and it should be fun with the digital camera. (Now that I know your trick.<G>)
