Here's some suggestions I recently sent to my daughter:

Here's some suggestions:
LOW SODIUM BEEF, CHICKEN BROTH (Health Valley or Swanson's) to mix 50/50 with:
V-8 OR TOMATO JUICE mix with beef broth to cut carbs - delicious morning drink instead of OJ
OLIVES, PICKLES, ETC (if you like them) for a snack
GREEN BEANS, OTHER CANNED VEGGIES (non starchy) - read labels
CANNED TUNA OR CHICKEN (can be mixed with Mayo or Ranch & celery & green onion for a quick salad or spread)
EGGS keep hard boiled on hand, eat as a snack, or chop & heat with butter for a quick breakfast
Deviled Eggs
SOFT CREAM CHEESE as a dip or filling celery for snacks or topping for hot veggies
SUGAR FREE JELLO in six pack or box to make yourself and top with:
COOL WHIP for easy, tasty dessert topping or
REDDI WHIP
GROUND ROUND 2 OR 3 LBS fry up a bunch of small patties for snacks. Also good when browned and served over a salad or Dreamfields Pasta (the only pasta allowable)
BROWN & SERVE SAUSAGE LINKS OR PATTIES fry with hamburger for snacks
SMOKED SAUSAGE OR KIELBASA
STEAK,PORK, CHICKEN - All good sliced and served on a salad
LUNCH MEAT Salami, ham, beef hot dogs etc. for snacks
CHEESE to snack on
SHREDDED CHEESE TO SPRINKLE ON HOT VEGETABLES
CELERY, ONIONS, CUCUMBER, BAGGED SALADS, OTHER VEGGIES THAT YOU LIKE
AVACADOS if you like them-very high in potassium-good on celery or salad
FRIED PORK RINDS for when you need some crunch food
ATKINS CRUNCHERS chips with cream cheese dip
NUTS - store in refrig. to keep fresh (one small handful is a snack)
DREAMFIELDS PASTA - 5 digestible carbs per serving - tastes great
YOPLAIT or other Low Carb yogurt
BAGGED Cole Slaw (mix with plain Mayo or Italian dressing, etc)
BAGGED SALAD with tomatoes and crumbled bacon on it with Mayonnaise for a BLT salad
There are some new low carb potatoes now, called SunLite in the produce dept. by the regular potatoes. Use sparingly. (for later phases of the diet).

FOODS TO AVOID: (Think 'white' food)
ALL BREAD, PASTA (EXCEPT DREAMFIELDS), RICE, POTATOES, NOODLES, CRACKERS, COOKIES, STUFFING
STARCHY VEGETABLES (BEANS, CORN, LIMA BEANS, PEAS, SQUASH. PUMPKIN, SWEET POTATOES)
ALL PASTRIES, SWEETS, ANYTHING MADE WITH WHEAT, ALL CHIPS, PRETZLES, ETC., ICE CREAM, EVEN 'LIGHT', YOGURT, ETC.
ALL SODA, EXCEPT SUGAR & CAFFEINE FREE.
COFFEE & OTHER CAFFEINE DRINKS
NO FRUIT in the beginning

SUBSTITUTIONS FOR WHEN YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE SOMETHING SWEET:
EDY'S LOW CARB ICE CREAM, OR BRYERS LOW CARB ICE CREAM. LOW CARB ICE CREAM BARS, sugar free jello, low carb cheesecake (make yourself or at Ruby Tuesdays. Friday's and some other restaurants)
Top all these things with Reddi Whip and sugar free chocolate syrup (look for it)

That's all I can think of right now - I'll send more when I think of it, but this should give you a good start and maybe you'll think of your own ideas - JUST BE SURE TO CHECK THE CARBS ON THE LABEL. YOU WANT TO AVOID ANYTHING WITH MORE THAN A FEW CARBS. TRY TO LIMIT YOUR CARB INTAKE TO 20 PER DAY TO START.

These restrictions apply to the 'Induction Phase' of the diet. After a while, more foods can be added back, but first, loose a good amount of weight. Good Luck.

I'm extremely new to the LC way of eating (this is my first week!), but I've learned a lot about nutrition over the last few years, as my sister battled anorexia. So, in addition to everyone else's ideas, I have a couple of my own:

First, are you sure that you need to loose another 12 pounds? Many people today have very unhealthy ideas of a "perfect weight," striving to be super-thin. Perhaps your body is maintaining this weight because it is healthy?

Second, besides not getting enough exercise, which will lower your metabolism (amount of calories your body burns at rest), not eating enough calories can also slow your metabolism. 10% of your total metabolic rate comes from the food you eat.

If you ARE exercising and eating correctly (neither too little nor too much), try changing your exercise routine--doing something different. Also, try to split it in 1/2, so you exercise both in the morning and in the evening (studies have shown that 15 minutes of exercise twice a day is just as effective as 30 minutes once a day), and this will boost your metabolism twice a day! Lastly, adding resitance training (lifting weights) to your workout will build more muscle (lean body mass), which will increase your metabolism.

Good luck!!
