Do you think facial exercises prevent things like a double chin or that they just create more wrinkles? My mother taught me to do facial exercises, e.g. using your hand to tap rapidly and gently underneath the chin, saying the vowels in an exagerrated way, etc. http://www.ageless.co.za/facial.htmI think that weight control, appropriate skin care and limited sun exposure will lessen wrinkles (or should I call them character lines? <img src="/images/graemlins/rolling.gif" alt="" /> ) Facial exercises are fun to do but I'm still unsure of their effectiveness. Carolyn, would you agree that taking care of one's teeth also helps keep the facial skin/shape young?

Great question. Facial exercises were "all the rage" a while back, and we saw them in every beauty magazine. I think one of the reasons we don't hear much about them anymore is because of their limitations.
It's my feeling that anyone who is active and expressive is going to give their facial muscles plenty of exercise in the normal course of things.
We go through an amazing number of facial expressions during the course of an average day, so spending an extra 15 minutes daily doing "exercises" isn't likely to make wrinkles worse. But I doubt if it does much to help.
Wrinkles come from breakdown and loss of collagen. Also, as we age, we lose some of the subcutaneous (under the skin) fat that helps keep us looking smoothe and "rounded".
There's no way for exercise to reverse that process.
One thing about weight control: You're right insofar as people who gain a tremendous amount of weight and then lose it will often have sagging skin.
But it's also true that as we age, and our skin sags naturally, we actually tend to look a little better with a few extra pounds on us! (Think subcutaneous fat). I'm not saying that everyone should gain weight to minimize wrinkles, just that it does have that effect!
Oh, and people can get very heavy and never have a double chin, while there are many who don't need much excess weight to develop one. It's genetic. It's where and how your body likes to deposit fat. (Some men get "breasts" when they gain, some don't).
Appropriate skin care --yes! Limited sun exposure -- yes, yes, and YES!!
Taking care of one's teeth deserves it's own thread. Thanks for bringing it up!

Dermatologists opinion is wrinkles do not come due of lack of facial exercise. There's no way for exercise to reverse that process, on the contrary, additional exercises may actually deepen existing lines by forcing our face into unnatural expressions. Investing in anti aging skin formula is a guarantee to how gracefully you will age later in life. http://www.skin-cosmetics.biz

I watched the new show on TV called The Doctors, and they said facial exercises can increase wrinkles, and also sleeping on your side. I',M doomed i always sleep on my sides. the doc said sleeping on your back is the best way to prevent wrinkles.

the doc said sleeping on your back is the best way to prevent wrinkles. It's also the best position to insure you will snore all night long! Do you want to breathe or do you want smooth skin? Isn't it always the case that we women have to make the hard decisions like this!

I sleep on my stomach so I am not doomed,I am worse than that. lol.Beautybasics you make alot of sense. We do make alot of facial expressions through out the day, so facial excercises might njot make any sense. But I go to the gym ,and do strength training, and what that does is makes the muscle stay in place, whic reduces any sagging. The resistance exercsises might do the same for the face.

Though am not an expert in this, I have taken enough trainings on skin care. I believe that would help you in getting some info. I want to answer the second question first.
See if you see yr eyes got sunken inside the best solution is that to take proper food. Means to have enough protein content. C Vitamin can only help for good sight, not very much for your case. I strongly suggest Protein Powder from Nutrilite for this complaint.
And for the first question... the best solution is to use Artistry branded products. Check the source if you have or I can give you if you want. You have good stuff there to prevent wrinkles. I have some good guidelines for massaging...
1. Apply little amount of cleanser on wet face and start massaging. while you massage, do it outwards on forehead and chin. circularly backwards on your cheeks and downwards on your nose. and upwards on your neck. then clean your face. this would help you clean the skin pores and removes all the oil and durt. 2. Then have toner on a cotton and wash off the remaining oils or durt on your face. let your skin dry for about ten seconds. 3. Then apply little bit of moisturizer on your face and apply the same as i said for cleanser. Artistry has SPF15 formula and i strongly suggest that brand.
If you want to have more tight skin, I suggest Alpha Hydroxy Serum Plus and Creamy Massage applied. You can feel the difference in just 2 weeks. I guarantee that.

I've seen people have great results with Cynthia Rowland's "Facial Magic."
