When did the myth start that Christians can't have strong opinions? Sorry, but we're humans too. I'm not going to go around being all nicey nicey head in the clouds when I have something to say, and I am in full agreement with Jenna about how retarded this thread is.

Um....actually, I was refering to Kat not Jenna. I've alwasy found Jenna very educated in the way she discusses her religion and how it affects the way she views the world.

Unfortunately, two of my daughters are deceased. And, I never intended to have children, but I was young, extremely naive, and the second time I had sex with my first real boyfriend, I got pregnant. Good grief! But that changed everything, my feelings about children, plus being a good Catholic...however I agree times are different, life is tough, we are killing ourselves and the planet with pollution. And I wish more people would stop and think, and try to make a difference.

I think it is sick for one person to bear so many children I don't feel that 'sick' is quite the word that we should be looking at. I believe that it is up to the individual couple to decide on just how many children they want to have regardless of religion - giving birth to a baby is a beautiful and wonderful experience. I don't agree though with families who raise endless amount of children on the welfare state at the expense of taxpayers, or young girls who have a baby just to get a council flat of their own.

Firefly,I do apologize if I caused you any undue distres because of my meant to be humourous sarcasm in regards to you having 4 children. I am sorry that you have lost two of your little ones.
It is those that teach their children how to be proper adults that should be the ones having children, those that have them for the meal ticket or because of lack of education are the ones that need the most help in learning how to care for them and create the best living/learning/life environment.
I personally have no children and have no right to tell others how to raise theirs, but this also gives me no right to tell others that they shouldnt have any just because Ive decided not to as of yet.

Personally, I put my efforts into sex education. For over two years now I have volunteered for San Francisco Sex Information, whose mission it is to provide free, accurate, non-judgemental sexual information.
I spend a lot of time taking calls from girls who have been given no education about how their bodies actually work, who have no clue as to how birth control works, nor has anyone really discussed the actual responsibilities or ramifications of becoming sexually active with them.
It gives me a very positive feeling to help women make active choices in their lives. And the gratitude the callers express to me for having an open and plain conversation with them is just an added blessing.

No distress, Wendy TO. The winking smiley gave you away! And I agree with your post, and with Rae's. The kids need to know about sex education, and a lot of it. I think that ten pound sack of sugar the kids had to tote around like a baby got them thinking. That was quite creative. I don't know if they still do that in the schools. And often good ideas can come from those that do not have to deal with the issues others deal with on a regular basis. <img src="/images/graemlins/rolling.gif" alt="" />

Ladies, Gone are the days of carrying around 'a ten pound sack of sugar' - in the UK some schools are offering both girls and boys of secondary school age in their sex education classes - a week with a battery operated baby doll programmed to cry and demand just like the real thing day and night. They even have to change diapers. Gets them thinking twice about not using contraception.
