I have Porphyria as I think I have mentioned before and one of the symptoms when I am in an attack is severe abdomenal bloating--I frequently look pregnant and have been asked many many times thru the yrs. Once when I was about 23 I was in a cute little Mexican grocery store and they asked me when I was due and I was so shocked at the time I mumbled something and when I left I thot 'omg! I can never go back there or they will know I am not pregnant!' and the last time was when we went to Church THIS yr on Mother's Day--I was handed a rose and afterward we went to eat at a chinese restaurant and they called me 'momma'! At 43--this time I just laughed.
stress does put on the fat layer around the middle doesn't it? Did you know that when you lose weight you release the toxins your body stores in the fat cells and can tax your liver? you should always support your liver and try to stay environmentally toxin free when trying to lose weight. Yet another reason why Porph sucks! I have a choice of stay fat or die of toxic shock.

As far as the comebacks, I always use this one that I saw on a bumper sticker a long time ago.

When I want to hear the pitter patter of little feet I will buy shoes for my dog.

It seems to get my point across, and yet it still makes people laugh so it keeps the conversation positive.

Not having kids by no means insures that you will not be heavy. I have never been thin and have really balooned recently due to a thyroid disorder. I have had people tell me that I look "like a mom"....ugh.

That's just another thing that bugs me about alot of moms. They say things like, "well, I've had (insert #)kids, SHAME ON you for critisizing me about not being thin anymore!" So it's not THEIR fault they are fat, cuz THEY have an excuse. So those of us who haven't had kids are just lazy fat asses, right? gggrrrrrrr

Anyone have a something sassy to say when you hear those kind of comments?

This sums up my reason for not having kiddos-

Me to friend w/kid-"What are you doing this weekend?"
Friend w/kid-"Ballet class, soccer game, karate class, little Mikeys birthday party. What are you doing?"
Me-"Going to Tahiti"

Caterpillar you could say what my husband's grandmother used to say to her no-good husband when he complained:
I am fat because your BS is fattening and you keep forcing it down my throat.

The one I use is:
Them: You better enjoy it now cause when you have kids you won't be able to do those things anymore.

Me: Well that's a good enough reason for me NOT to have kids! I get the funniest looks!
