NYC, sorry this site was not up to your par. It seems there were a lot of things here you disagree with. We discuss the issues we have to deal with on a regular basis and some times adding humor and creativity is the best way to deal with our frustrations. Nothing we say to people who insist on butting into our business and interjecting their own opinion is going to be sufficient, so why not entertain ourselves when it comes to these ignorant people.

I can say from going to other forums that this is the most openminded one, many other have very radical opinions and feelings.

I hope one day you can find what ever it is you are looking for.

My latest favorite reply to the age old question of "when are you going to have kids" is:
Having kids is not on my "To Do" list.

NYC,
I must say that I find it sad that you can't take some joking about the wretched comments we have had to endure for years. Perhaps you have not been inundated with as much critisism and judging as the rest of us and don't require a little good natured joking. Honestly, just lighten up. What did you think a forum entitled "Snappy comebacks" was going to include? I am sorry for you.

It depends on how you look at it. I can see how comebacks like these seem to lower us to the same level as our enemies, but then again, anger relieves frustration, and when you add laughter to the mix, you're guaranteed to feel good again. I know many instances where I've mentally insulted other people in a mean AND joking manner and felt good afterwards. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I must admit I feel bad at the snide comment I made at the end of my post toward NYC so for that I apologize. I must be crabby.. again, sorry NYC. In all of your other posts you are very articulate and I respect that things you say.

You will change your mind.
---------------------
EXACTLY.
I can only have the freedom of changing my mind as long as I DON'T have kids.
---------------------
the other one I get all the time is:
But you would be a PERFECT mother!
and my answer is:
yes I know, but perfection can't exist in this world so god decided to to let me wait for the perfect child in the perfect world.

My husband's boss's wife asked me why I didn't have any children yet (I had been married 2 years and was only 20 at the time). I said we weren't ready yet and she told me not having children was very selfish. I told her that having children just to get people off my back about it was selfish. She never mentioned it again. We did finally have our children, starting 4 years later, when we were ready.

My evil MIL told me once that I was sinning against the Catholic Church (I had a tubal ligation done years before I even met my husband or became Catholic) so I just smiled and asked her if she thought the Pope went without groceries to buy scratch tickets and go to the casinos.
