It's really impossible to worry too much about the exact precise carbs in anything. A large tomato will have more than a small tomato. A sweet tomato will have more than a dry tomato. Red wine tends to have around 1g/glass, white wine 2g/glass. But how big is a glass? What style of wine is it? What else are you eating, to cause the wine to absorb more quickly or slowly?

Really, low carbing is about balancing out your foods so that you get the most healthy things you can, while avoiding unnecessary sugar. Wine gives you so much benefit with antioxidants and such, that it's well worth the few carbs in trade. Just walk up the stairs another time or two to balance it off

That rum and gingerale sure sounds tempting! I like Captain Morgan Spiced Rum and diet pepsi. Many years ago I would drink Apricot Brandy and gingerale - for office parties and turned many officemates onto that creation.

I just bought a Charles Shaw bottle of wine at Trader Joes for $1.99

I always thought all alcohol ahd sugars in it. My Mom's a diabetic and that was one thing she was warned away from was alcohol.

Rum & Amaretto taste so sweet! i never realized they had no carbs. Neat!

Ummmmm Amaretto has a ton of sugar in it. Nice try though!

Straight alcohol has zero carbs - so things like rum, vodka, gin, etc. But liquors that contain other things - like wine, beer, amaretto, midori, etc. - all have carbs from those other things.

Sugar and alcohol are quite different. Sugar is a carbohydrate. Alcohol is not a carbohydrate The four main types of energy that your body burns are:

* proteins
* fats
* carbohydrates
* alcohol

The diabetic / alcohol issue is a different one, unrelated to sugars "in" alcohol. That would be for a doctor to discuss with her, she might want to talk to her doctor. I don't believe that is a current forbidding issue, many thoughts on alcohol have changed over recent years. But I'm not a doctor to really advise on that.

Cranberry juice has an ungodly 37g of carbs per 8oz of juice. Cranberries are naturally very tart so they dump a BOATLOAD of sugar into it to make it drinkable. I would stay away

Thanks!
