Hi Janet,

I also have used runes in my readings, I tend to view them as a Soul's journey of sorts - almost like the major arcana. I also find that when I use tarot, runes and other modes in one reading they reinforce the same or similar messages. [color:"pink"] [/color] As if to say "Did you Get the message?"

The runes also have direct tarot correspondences as well as correspondences to numbers, colors, the zodiac, animal totems, etc. Sirona Knight's Little Giant Encyclopedia of Runes is a great source.

I have some runes, I was able to purchase these at a pretty inexpensive price several years ago. I was able to find them in the birthstones for my mom (garnet), my daughter (turq), mine (aquam.), clear quartz and petrified wood. I love stones and I love trees, so I am partial to the petrified wood runes. I have not looked at them in several years, however you all are inspiring me to.

You can also use runes for meditation and dreaming! Your gemstone runes would work well as would your wood runes. The Havamal and rune poems say:

"It is best to carve them on the bark of trees whose limbs lean to the East."

This is probably why you're partial to that set I'll write an article on runes and dreaming when I get a chance.
