This opinion was expresses in the CNN program in the morning on Sunday called "The Reliable Sources".
It is interesting because this topic - about Europeans versus Americans is more present in the media than before. I guess, this is partly due to Condolezza visit in Europe.
Today even CSPAN talked about it with two journalist - one German (with Hungarian first name and Slavic last name ) and one English.
People who called were very polarized, I noticed also how their voices were trembling like almost never in other programs which are not always so controversial. People could be divided easily into two groups - these whose opinion about Europe is very low (corruption, weakness, trying to go through peace talks with Iran because European are cowards) and they did not like UN
and these who felt that Europe was more responsible than the US because it it ruled by reason rather than dogmatic ideology,
There was clear division to these two types of attitudes among Americans.

Not me..... I could probably learn more facts and the truth by watching "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" on Comedy Central....

Bob,
What TV channel do you usually watch? FoxNews is not really news channel but the governmental opinion channel, so I cannot watch this one...

Jaga. CNN is the Clinton News Network or just another arm of the Democrat Party. The alphabet networks are in the same boat. They are mouthpieces for the Democrat/Liberal party. I usually get my news from the radio and don't put up with the tripe on the networks. Newspapers are about the same thing, only one week late. At one time they were good for cleaning windows but even that is in the past and they don't serve any useful purpose except to wrap "Fish and Chips" in England. I can tell some very big sea stories or fish tails but it is hard to compete with network news.

Jaga - have you seen the documentary "Outfoxed"? http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B...0953922-1846508If not I can highly recommend it. there is no real news on FoxNews. its programmes have 3 basic purposes: scaremongering, cheerleading and republican propaganda. mind you - as sources of news the other networks aren't much better....

I've just been reading through the customer reviews of "Outfoxed" on amazon - some are hilarious.
this one for example, from the kind of braindead idiot who is obviously an avid watcher of FoxNews:
"the bottom line is this; fox is number one in ratings and viewer confidence. bush got re-elected, the elections in Iraq were a complete success, reagan was a hero, clinton was a pervert nobody watches CNN, nobody listens to NPR (let alone sky), nobody liked john kerry and liberalism along with the "progressive movement" is on it's way out.
it's like the rest of the world and the US, when your number one and the best all the kooks come out and attack you. It's pure jealousy."

raytan. I only wish that there were fish & Chip places here in the States. McDonalds and Burger King could be done away with today and it would be no big loss only please replace them with fish & chips shops including the newspapers. The only problem I can see is that the Nannys and Liberals would have a conniption fit because of supposed health problems. A good shot of viniger would take care of that problem.

I love all kinds of exotic food - indian, chinese, greek, thai, japanese etc - but once in a while there's nothing like some good old fish, chips and mushy peas!
so simple and yet so utterly good!
and somehow if it's not wrapped in newspaper just like when I was a kid it's not the same....
on the other hand mcdonalds, burger king and all the rest of them can go to hell as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't touch the stuff.
I was amazed to discover that last year 2 American girls were trying to sue mcdonalds for making them fat! as if ronald mcdonald had kidnapped them and forcefed them with big macs or something....
*****note to Jaga - please can we have the  smiley back?!*****
