There are SO many great low carb breakfasts out there. My boyfriend has low carb cereal every morning, for the fiber, plus he puts cinnamon on top since that spice is just SO amazing for weight loss.

I have become fond of the EAS shakes and have one pretty much every morning. I pour it over ice and it's smooth, delicious and quite filling. I get up late, so I have one of those around 11am or noon (I work from home). Then I'm set for quite a while - I have a snack a few hours later, and then we eat dinner around 7-8 or so.

Hi there, with your boyfriend eating the low carb cereal every morning, does he use the low carb milk, or 2% low fat milk?

What is your thoughts on the breakfast bars that are out?

Definitely the low carb milk. I think the low fat milk is higher in carbs than normal milk, isn't it? I always found it watery in any case.

My boyfriend enjoys the various breakfast bars but I don't really think about eating those myself. I might have one as an afternoon snack sometimes if I have one around. I suppose each of us is different, my favorite breakfast would be an omelet or fried tomatoes and sausages and such. My boyfriend makes those for me sometimes. His favorite breakfast is just to eat cereal.

If I can't have eggs, I'd rather just drink a shake while I work. Most mornings I roll out of bed and go right to the computer to start working on things, so the shake is easy to take with me to drink while I work.

I have no desire for waffles or pancakes for example, or french toast. I'll eat them occasionally if we're out but I wouldn't make them for myself.

So in short I suppose my answer is if you're a bar sort of person, experiment with the ones that are out to see which appeals to you. There are a wide range of bars from dry crunchy ones to moist sweet ones to everything in between <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I like to have my breakfast with a cup of coffee and a small plate of fruits.

For the summer is the best breakfast you can have Lisa.

I'm not a coffee drinker - I try to avoid caffeine whenever I can. I don't think fruits would be very filling to me, and it'd involve going shopping a lot to keep the fridge stocked. If that works for you tho, that's great!

I love breakfast, best meal of the day! I have 3 egg yolks with a bit of the white, scrambled in butter, 3 slices of bacon with soft cheese, then strawberries with a large serving of cream :-)

There are breakfast people and there are dinner people, and it seems like the only time they'll ever meet is for brunch.<G>
I tend to be a late riser too, so I start off with dessert. Truly, I love low-carb cheesecake for breakfast. If I could go two days on that alone, I would lose 6 to 8 pounds. In Atkins, that's a "fat fast," but not how I want to live. I like l/c cheesecake and want to continue to do so!<G> I have a great recipe. If anyone wants it, I'll be happy to post it. 3 grams carb at most.
Also, why skim milk? It has the most carbs. Hoods makes a low carb whole milk that has 3 grams in 8 ounces. It tastes very rich and delicious and is indistinguishable from whole milk in tea and coffee for those who use caffiene.

That's what I thought, that the "skim milks" that removed the fat just replaced it with sugar. Low carb is about avoiding sugar so regular milk is in essence better that sugar-boosted milk. We always go for the low carb milk varieties. It is very tasty.

Definitely eating "what you enjoy" is critical here as long as it is relatively good for you <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> So whether something "counts" as breakfast or dinner or dessert should be secondary to making sure you eat nutritious food frequently, in small doses, and aren't stuffing yourself.

I literally pull open the fridge door and say "what looks good". I don't care if it is "supposed" to be breakfast or a snack or dinner or anything else. I find that I naturally vary between veggies and fruits and proteins and cheese and so on. Plus it's important to drink a lot of water, and take your vitamins. No diet can ever fully meet your vitamin needs - believe me, we've tried figuring out one that could <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

My breakfasts are generally cheese or dinner leftovers. I am very big on leftovers. For me, eggs are for dinner! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Please, Mary Ann, would you post that cheesecake recipe? I have to carry my breakfast and lunch, so am always looking for something suitable.
Right now I have 3# of bacon prepared and wrapped, and Flax almond muffins ready to go. When this is gone, I will be looking for another lowcarb carriable breakfast.
