hi lisa,
i certainly agree with you here. we should not be taking drugs that stimulate our metabolism. rather we should be eating foods that allow our metabolisms to function in the way that they were designed.

our hormones, early on, made the number of fat cells that our bodies have, which today regulates the amount of body fat we will have. if we are eating correctly, thusly performing as designed, our bodies will oscillate about that body fat percentage in which it was designed to have.

the goal of nutrition is "allowing our bodies to function as they were designed", not about how we look in the mirror.

Yup I agree with you SO much. When we're adolescents we often dream about being teenagers with breasts and hips and so on. Then when we are in our 30s and above we try again to force ourselves to be teenage-shaped!! Our bodies have different shapes at different stages and we should treasure EACH shape. It always pains me when pregnant women for example call themselves "fat" and want to be thin again. Didn't these women WANT to get pregnant and dream about it? Why not treasure it while they are in that state? In old cultures they made statues of pregnant women and older women as "Venus" shapes. But somehow our MTV generation has made the 19 year old anorexic shape the only one any woman should strive for.
