So what type of games do you like? These are what I think of the games (anyone up for lots of reading? )
RPG no it doesn't mean "Rocket powered grenade" or "Really poor graphics", it means "Role playing Game" The great thing about these types of games is POWER and CHOICES Yes, taht's right. Although traditionally rpgs are turn based there are some real time rpgs poping up all over the place. You can identify rpgs cuz they have real stories (with the exception of the pokemon series). Yes real stories being storeis with character development, plot development, and a lot of cut scenes that tell a lot. Personally I like rpgs because your character(s) change (they are stronger and more better at the end of the game). Its not like you go around doing the same thing every time. You can over power your opponents and it more realistic in the way that your characters imporve as they fight (just as you would in reality) Rpgs are games like The Final Fantasy series, Wild Arms, Vagrant Story, Monkey Hero, Pokemon
Real Time Stratagey You always know when you have one of these games because they all follow the same format. Collet your Taelon, build a base, build an army, and over power the enemy. But its not called stratagey for no reason. Stratagey games DO require some sort of stratagey and most of them contain stories. Not great stories but good enough to keep me happy Example of these games are: Command And Conqure series (real popular, I dont know why), Dark Reign series, Star Craft, Civilisation, and Age of Empires
Platform These are the childish looking games where you move your character around head butting, shooting, and throwing things at various enemies whilst jumping aronud on various platforms. Also traditionally the stories are weak. "that's your enemy now deal with him" Examples of these games are: Spyro series, and Crash bandicoot series
Beat 'em up Take your character and beat up all teh things you come across on level 1, 2, 3, 4, etc similar to platform only not as childish looking. Examples of these games are: Tenchu, Jet Li, Akuja the heartless
Shoot 'em up take a gun and shoot like crazy and die in 2 or 3 hits. Traditionally in 1st person view. Somehow poeple like these typoes of games. I will never know why. Shoot em ups are propaganda filled training games that get you familiar with war situations so when you are called up for war duty you wont be so fearful. I see little point to these games other than the one stated above. They have no storyline (or if they do its not even worth calling a story) and are all the same The only shoot 'em ups worth playing are probably the the ones where you take a gun and shoot at the screen Examples of these games are: Counter strike, Unreal Tournament, Doom (*shudders at the mere thought of the game*), and Americas Army (which they do actually use to train soldiers)
Figthing Fun games to play that usually take 6-8 hours to complete and abit more to fully master. With little way of a story (with the exception of Mortal Kombat and Tekken) they are meant for true multiplayer action. Examples of these games are: Tekken Series, Mortal Kombat Series, Dead or Alive (*shudders at the thought of the game*), and Street Fighter
Sport An alternative if you never made it into a sport team or if you dont have the money for the fees or if you dont like destruction. The games that take us away from real sport Once you played one you played them all. The only sport games that could be worth playing are the skatboarding ones and the ones where you score points I'm not entirely sure how EA became so popular after only making sport games and only real games they made were Harry Potter and LOTR (Which should have been made by ACctivision or Square Enix) Examples of these games are: Jona Lomu Rugby, NBA, Golf
Racing Another type of sport that I decided will have its own catagory There are two types of racing: Cart racing and the other racing. Cart Racing is where you can shoot at your enemy in little carts and you pick up various items that have special effects Other racing games are all the same. Get a car, win a race, be happy. Get a car, wina race, be happy. Get a car, win a race, be happy. Get a car and you get what I mean.
RAcing Games can be adictive but they are EXTREMELY easy for me to put down and play a game worth playing
Examples of these games are: Gran Turismo, Lego Cart Racing, Chrash Bandicoot, Toca, Micromachines
Simulation These games are simluations. Need I say more? Examples of these games are: Sims (*shudders at the mentioning of that game*), Sim City, Zoo tycoon, Flight Simluator
Puzzle only technically all games except sport and racing and shoot em ups have puzzles. But of course there are the games that focus straight on puzzles. Puzzle games usually challenge your smartness (otherwise they woudln't be called puzzle) Examples of these games are: Must a Move
I think I got all the platforms. So...what games do you like?
The I is moving I would rather live in my own shadow...at least then I would be compared to a past I'm more familiar with ~I~ Fear me, Hate me, Curse me, for I will question your every move ~I~ My past hold much pain and loss. I will conquer it by creating the perfect future ~Ixidor the Reality Sculptor (Magic the Gathering)~

I like all the MMO's. Like MMORPG and MMOFPS oo FPS *drools* . Yea I like all the big war games online and the games like FFXI, EQ, and oh so many others. CoH (City of Heroes) I've heard is pretty nice too. Yea I stick to MMO's and regular RPG's. I also like first person shooters like Counter Strike and Far Cry. Things like that.

Final Fantasy series are the best. These are the only games I played that actually gave me goosebumps in some scenes. For example, in FFX when Tidus and Yuna kissed in the spring and in FFX-2(although not my favorite) when Yuna sang 1000 words in the thunderplains. And you can't help but get the Boss Theme off of FF7 stuck in your head. Other than that, I love sports games and comedy, like the celebrity deathmatch game, but it need more celebrities and options on creating fighters. Oh yeah, army games are good too. Splinter Cell (1 & 2), Ghost Recon, and Rainbow Six Three are great.

Ermm hehehe...I sorta like platform games...*tries to run away..."HEY THOSE TOMATOES WERE ROTTEN!!! " *
ermm like Dark Chronicle!!! But that's also sort of a beat'em up coz they throw you in a dungeon with about 15 floors each
BUTT I also like fighting games a lot, I have most of the Tekken games, and Dead or Alive 2(shudders at the thought of Lei-Fang  ) and some others =)
Though I'm not really into shooting games I do like it when there's more to it (Tomb Raider!!!) it also needs a story and possibly also some fighting moves, or stealth attacks!!! Like Primal!!! but you don't really shoot in that one...hrmm you fight, solve things, it has a story and you kill the Evil at the end <--- what's Primal called ???
Ohh and RPG's...*beams infinite love towards Final Fantasy* I LOVE rpg's and especially final Fantasy...
I hate strategy games though YUCK *Noo don't slap me!!! =O* I dunno why I just hate'em!!! =
Just give me anything with a good story, things to kill, puzzles to solve and a character (possibly more) that develops in the game and gets stronger and learns things then it's A-OK...
soooooo give me all your games that fit this category or else be GRUESOMLY murdered and lost without traces =) ...I'm not kidding...

RPG Its not like you go around doing the same thing every time. yeah right like FF isn't repetitive, lol. and u call pokemon an rpg while u don't list baldur's gate?? RTS You always know when you have one of these games because they all follow the same format. Collet your Taelon, build a base, build an army, and over power the enemy.
u can decribe every sort of game this way, it's not like every rts is exactly the same, and most rts games require a lot more than "some sort of strategy" to win. There are also a lot of rts games out there that don't require players to build a base but focus on combat and micromanaging your units instead. (Blitzkrieg) Or are a combination of rts and tbs like shogun: total war, i wouldn't call this game the same as every other rts it is a really original game where good tactics are crucial. Civilization also requires a lot more from the player than just plopping down buildings while building your army, BUT it's not an rts, it's tbs (turn based strategy) Platform games These are the childish looking games where you move your character around head butting, shooting, and throwing things at various enemies whilst jumping aronud on various platforms.
the platform game genre is practically dead save for any handheld platforms, the genre is really old and some of the old school games were uber-addictive and therefore very good. shoot 'em up Shoot em ups are propaganda filled training games that get you familiar with war situations so when you are called up for war duty you wont be so fearful.
ehm this may be the case of america's army, but again plz don't generalise all the shooters this way, it's not like every shooter is developed for this purpose, there are a whole lot of shooters available that aim to recreate some of the major battlefields in history, i'm not saying these games are very realistic or accurate in history but they do contribute something more than just "take a gun and shoot like crazy and die in 2 or 3 hits" or take a game like metal gear solid for example or splinter cell (which are both more about sneaking through and using tactics than just cowboying your way through the levels) They have no storyline (or if they do its not even worth calling a story) and are all the same again look at metal gear (no story huh), and i'm sure there more games out there that don't use the same cheesy storyline over and over again. (Deus ex, Tron, Max Payne, Mafia) Fighting : don't forget Killer Instinct! Another type of sport that I decided will have its own catagory There are two types of racing: Cart racing and the other racing omg are u for real? i mean just throwing all sorts of racing games (like rally, formula 1, gt, street racing, drag, drift etc) on 1 pile just because u don't like to play them. I mean if u don't like racing don't play the games, surely a whole lot of racing games out there offer something more than pedal to metal, get a car, win a race etc. I mean just play DTM race driver 2 on simulation level and say this again : Other racing games are all the same. Get a car, win a race, be happy. Get a car, wina race, be happy. Get a car, win a race, be happy. Get a car and you get what I mean Also get ur story straight, cart racing is a genre now??? just because of mario cart and a handfull of games with the same format?, this isn't even cart racing, it's just a fun game where u get to race AND shoot down your opponents, REAL cart racing is similar to formula 1 only with cars that have a lot less power. RAcing Games can be adictive but they are EXTREMELY easy for me to put down and play a game worth playing Again play colin mcrae 4 and DTM race driver 2 on the hardest difficulty setting and THEN try to claim every racing game is extremely easy, lol. I mean do u only play need for speed or something? Try the more realistic racing games before you go around making statements about every racing game ever made and throw 'em all on the "other" pile.

thanks Dejinin. I was hoping someone would have a go at me And I agree MGS has a REALLY GREAT story, but that's just THAT game, and of course there are a few more games taht involve sneaking around like Tenchu. And I don't class it as a shootem up for that reasons.
AND I NEVER LISTED BUALDERS GATE because I coudln't be othered listing all the games I have seen and played
