My husband and I decided to be childfree by choice, and we do not regret it one bit. Cats over kids, I always say. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

HaHAHA, I love your responses...I am not childless but one of my brothers decided to be childless and when my other brother remarried, she had allready decided to be childless. I think there is nothing wrong with that decision at all. My one brother said he didn't want kids because we had enough (I have 3 brothers, 2 sisters and between us we have a total of 7 children) and he is an fantastic Uncle. All the kids love him to pieces.

Just a quick question....does everyone have pets? We have a dog and I would take her over a kid any day...everyone agree?

Absolutely. We've had our little guy for many many years - ever since I took him in as a stray. In fact, looking around my office, I seem to have more pictures of my dog than I do of my husband...oops.

Mother always said that even when things seem bad there's someone else who's having a worse day. Like being stung by a bee or getting a splinter or being chained to the wall in someone's sex dungeon.

I have more pictures of my puppy than my husband too! It's really amazing how much love pets can give....She is a little hyper at times..but I would still take her over a kid anyday!!

I have two cats, and I'm an animal person--I'm squicked out over human births but a puppy or kitten birth on Animal Planet will get me any time.

Contrary to popular societal belief, though, my cats are NOT replacements for kids, TYVM. I have no doubt that for some people, they are and it really is true that they have a repressed desire to have children and are channeling it into pets. But some of us just like animals, and just because someone may have a bit of a nurturing personality (I really hate the word "nurture" because it's so associated with "aw look it's a soft, sweet, hovering, but wussy and weak mommy-woman"... but unfortunately, I've not yet found another word that is totally parallel to it that I can substitute) doesn't mean they want or need to nurture CHILDREN. Friends, family, and pets (not to mention total strangers) will always need us as well and those avenues may be where our nurturing sense lies.
