I was in a serious crash when I was 21 or so which would have killed me had I not been wearing a seatbelt. I fell asleep at the wheel driving home from work around midnight, after a long day on a project, and crashed into a parked semi. I always wear mine.

I always wear my seatbelt - my son was in an infant seat when I had an accident and he miraculously survived because of the seat!

And, after six years of being a police officer, I have seen both sides of the coin - being caught in a seatbelt and not wearing one. The effects of not wearing one come out disastrous MANY more times and whether death results or serious injury, it is most horrible.

Some people don't realize that even "fender benders" and no seatbelts can cause injuries that will remain with you for the rest of your life! (This comes from the woman who was hit from behind SIX times in two years!)

I always wear mine and make sure my kids wear theirs too. I have heard that car seats wear out periodically, though, so I am not sure they are getting the protection they need.

I always wear mine and my kids believed the car had a magic tool that wouldn't let it start unless belts and carseats were in place. If they unfastened, we pulled off the road for as long as it took. Once, their doctor asked them if they'd worn their seatbelts that day, and my preschooler looked at her in shock and asked, "Do you think we WANT to get killed!?"

It's so good that kids learn it as a 'normal habit' nowadays. I remember when I was young, climbing all over the car while we were driving ...

Really? I didn't know they could pull you over for that. I thought if they pulled you over for something else they could then cite you for the seatbelt not being on, but that they couldn't actively stop you for a seatbelt. How interesting!

I wear a seat belt. I've had friends wreck and come out with just strains and bruises versus more serious stuff.

When I took my First Responder training, they focus a lot on car accidents as what you may come into contact with in an urban setting, and massive chest and torso injuries are just too scary.

I always wear mine and my daughters have always been in the habit. When we first looked at older cars for my daughter the first thing she checked was for seatbelts and airbags. Then she looked at the paint job.
