tiflin, some of my names I got out of a novel I love ("The Mists of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley) like Igraine, Morgaine, Gwenhwyfar, and Galahad (all are Arthurian names). Others I got from "Celtic Names of the British Isles", like Seamus, Padraig, Owaine, and Killian. Three have a religious meaning to me... Rhiannon is a Celtic/Welsh Goddess, and Ostara and Lughnasadh are Celtic Sabbats/Holidays. Ostara is the Spring Equinox and Lughnasadh is the first of the Autumn festivals. And Faelynn is a variation of the English name Faylinn, and it means Faery Kingdom.

My husband and I also have Celtic Names. Mine is Niamh ("nee-av") which is Irish, and his is Gwyddion which is Welsh. I love almost everything Celtic, especially the names.

I dont have any kids right now... those are the names my husband and I are planning to give our kids. We'd like to have six kids (would be great if it was three of each LOL... but I doubt it would come out that way lol)....

Hi, I am one of three kids in my family with unique names. My parents both had ordinary names(Pam and Jonathan) and wanted different ones for their kids.
Chandra Donica- Means princess morningstar
Skyler Morgan (m) Morgan is a family name
Damon Jonathan (m)
Growing up I hated my name, I used to dream of having any easy name to pronouce, but now in my 30's I love having a unique name. Most people pronounce my name as "shaundra" or "shandra" when in fact the Ch is a hard sound like church. It rhymes with Sandra and sounds exactly like it is spelled. I have noticed that Skyler has become a very popular name for girls. But in the 70's it was a very unique name for my brother to have. Here is my niece's baby name: Leila Naomi. It is a cute name but she is only 2 months old and many people already try to pronounce it as "leela" instead of "layla". I agree that when having a different name to not go to creative on the spelling, because it is frustrating for the kids.

Really? I automatically pronounced it "layla". "ei" kinda seems like it would make an "ay" sound (in most words anyways), whereas "ie" makes an "ee" sound. Beautiful name, btw!

My children's names are all meaningful if somewhat plain:

Daniel Patrick (named after my mother Dianne Patricia, he was born the day before her birthday)

Ebhlin Rose Marie (Ebhlin is an Irish name from the same root as Helen - me !! Rose and Marie are saints who I love

Amy Valentine ( Is named after her great grandmother (Amy) and my great uncle (Valentine) I dont really like names that end in the ee sound...somehow they dont seem to grow with the kids can you imagine a 90 year old Amy? But the husband was insistent! Surprisingly she really suits it a happy friendly girl...sometimes I think the Lord names our kids and we just have to get used to it!)

I love the name Ebhlin, Helen! It is pronounced Evlin, correct? "bh" in Irish makes a "v" sound, so I am only assuming. It is very pretty! Like I have said several times her on BellaOnline... I LOVE Celtic names.
