Fiona,
I'm still getting started on Wicca, but I've been researching it for a couple of years now. I'm really into abilities and the form of divination I prefer would probably be Tarot. I'm a solitary practicioner, but I have a friend who's into Wicca, also. As far as a favorite deity goes, I just use God and Goddess.

Hi Fiona!

Welcome to BellaOnline.

I'm not a Wiccan, but I really don't have a label to what I am. I suppose the closest description would be Christian mysticism and Gnosticism, but I love to learn about and incorporate the wisdom of different belief systems.

My favorite divination tool is Tarot, although I never used any tools until the last year or so. I enjoy studying gods and goddesses archetypally, especially as they manifest in human personality and psychology.

Just wanted to stop by to give you a warm welcome, and if I can help in any way as you get your feet wet, please let me know.

Janet-

Thanks for the Welcome and the offer of help! I am so excited about all of the support I have recieved from the other hosts!

I am really glad that folks of several belief systems have been to the board here.I think information and idea exchange is vital to personal growth no matter what path you are on. I look forward to the discussions.

I actually might be going to a Gnostic Mass in a couple of weeks so it will be interesting to discuss that with those of you familiar with Gnosticism as well.. I will post a thread shortly after.

I totally agree, Fiona.

Wow, a Gnostic Mass! What exactly does that entail? It sounds fascinating!

My formal training is actually Pentecostal Christian, and I was a pastor for time. Then I had some perspective shifts, and pretty much left organized religion. Yet, I couldn't escape the comfort and wisdom I found in Scriptures. I tried to throw the baby out with the bath water...but the Babe kept coming back. LOL

I knew that I couldn't read most Scripture as literal; I now view it on more levels including metaphorical and mystical. So I've just began reading a book on the Gnostic Gospel of St. Thomas (which I'll be reviewing shortly) and it was then that I thought "Aha! Could I be a Gnostic?"

My "home base" is very similar to Science of Mind, Unity, mystical Christianity, and so on. New Age is a perfect fit for me as far as writing goes, though!

Well, sorry to ramble! Thought I'd give ya a little background. I look forward to learning more about Wicca. I think I posted a question about Wicca versus Paganism ages ago, but don't recall hearing anything. I'd love to learn more.

lol I will let you know when I figure it out!

And Wicca & Paganism is an excellent topic for an article! I should be working on it soon. Keep an eye out.

Before I moved to Denver I took a couple of classes at a place in IL. One class they offered (that I never got around to taking)was on Metaphysical Bible Study. I wish I knew how to contact the instructor. Sounds like it would be right up your alley!
