Win a Professional Tarot/Numerology Reading!

It is almost time for our fourth Bella Tarot Trivia contest, with a prize of a professional one-hour Tarot/Numerology Reading for our monthly Trivia Contest winner.

Our Bella Host, June Kaminski (professional reader name: Rajuna) will personally provide one of her in-depth readings, carefully transcribed for convenience and instant reference. The winner will have a choice of tarot decks for the reading including Joseph Ernest Martin's Quest Tarot Deck; the Aleister Crowley Thoth Deck; Kat Black's Golden Tarot Deck; Sarah Ovenall's Victoria Regina Deck or Robert Place's Buddha Tarot Deck. The Numerology component of the Reading will provide a comprehensive synoposis of the winner's Name Interpretation, Birth Number and Destiny Number Analysis.

The first contestant to answer 9 (a powerful number!) trivia questions correctly will win the Reading. This contest is open to any participant living in the USA or the UK who is aged 18 years or older. Posts must be unedited to qualify as answers. The prize will be shipped (published format) to the winner at no cost.

The Tarot/Numerology Reading is worth $90. The winner will be invited to submit up to five questions to be addressed in the Reading. For complete sweepstake rules, Click Here!

The current Tarot Trivia Contest will begin on the Full Blue Moon in Aquarius, Saturday July 31st .

One new Trivia Question will be posted daily here on the Bella Tarot forum. The trivia questions will be focused solely on Tarot topics. You will be able to find clues to these questions on the Bella Tarot site.

A new Reading Contest will begin at each Full Moon. Good Luck and tell your friends!

Our May Winner was Michael Boyle!

Our June Winner was Fiona Wolff!

Our July Winner was Janet Boyer!

Our Blue Moon Winner could be You! :music:

I guess this is where I come in and tell you all that thanks to an error in Sky & Telescope magazine in 1943, we are all operating under the wrong definition of a blue moon....

Hi Rae,

Yes, historically one of the meanings for the Blue Moon has been the third Full Moon in a season which has four; and there are others that are even older than the Almanac.

However, for our purpose here, the modern definition adds a nice flavor to this second July Full Moon contest,...the parameters of the contest are the Full Moon. Calling it the Blue Moon contest (which most people have come to know as the second full moon in a month) helps to distinguish it from the previous early July Tarot Trivia Contest.

Thanks for your thoughts,...

Yeah, and it's nice that it has it's own theme song... sounds better to me than:
:music: Second Moon in July, you saw me standing alone... :music:

All silliness aside, it's interesting how recent the popular idea of the 'Blue Moon' is. Thanks Rae.

I wouldn't of thought an eastern style deck would use the term Seer, I think of Celtic or Nordic when I hear that term.

It will be going retrograde starting on August 10th.

This is exactly what I've just been through, but my just in time person came through today

I only know a little bit about astrology but it seems there are quite a few incluences for me right now. I'm a Leo and this time of year is always full of energy for me. Also, Mercury is the ruler of my chart, and I have alot of Virgo traits. My energy has been running pretty high lately so I've been trying to keep my feet on the ground and not go in too many directions at once.

So far so good

Crowley named his deck after the god Thoth. I think Thoth was an Egyptian god, but I'm not sure(?)

Yes, and didn't Mr. Crowley consider Thoth to be the originator of the tarot?

Justice is the correct answer - Janet you now have 8 points.

You also raise a good point. If you look at the various scholars and decks you see a rather controversial trend. Various creators of tarot fluctuate between putting Justice and Strength in either the 8th or 11th place. For instance Paola Pierpaoli and the Marseille tradition cite Justice as No 8 and Strength as No 11, while Pamela Coleman Smith, Nina Lee Braden, Kat Black, etc. convey it as No. 11.

In more modern times the Order of the Golden Dawn's leader decided to make Strength No. 8 which has influenced many new decks, which haves made it more typically the No 8 card, but in the ancient roots Strength was no. 11. Crowley calls No 8 Adjustment and No. 11 Lust, btw.

The controversy continues to this day and tends to confuse many people as they learn the tarot.

Interesting topic! Thanks!

Aleister really put a lot of thought into the naming of the cards, and often changed them from the "common" titles...he called Judgement, the Aeon.

I just realized last night, June, that the older traditions do indeed render Justice Trump 8 as you now mentioned. I guess I've only worked with decks who render it Trump 11, forgetting how there's sometimes a switcheroo.

The images on this deck are really striking. I would of used a tiger for the strength card though I suppose the artist wanted to keep the connection with the classic tarot.

The Tiger would indeed make an excellent Strength card image.

It seems Robert's intent was to convey key events in Siddhartha's life in the trumps,..as he evolved to become the Buddha.
