Filled a jumbo jet with 18 tons? The 50 year old C-130 carries 40,000 lbs or 20 tons. It makes me suspect this fellow is offering a bit of slanted or inflated news himself.

Stop your provocation Puleeup!
Carl just reported factual news.
I saw a lot of Israeli help supplies on Duch news.
It is true that the Israeli's are among the first to help
when there are disasters everywhere in the world.
Sometimes their help is refused for political reasons
(for instance in Muslim countries)

For some reason that I cannot explain, Puleeup reminds me of HB/Limpia ... perhaps if Puleeup introduced him/herself we could understand her/his position better.

Hello Pieter, Nancy, Jaga and Others in the forum. That was a terrible tradgedy that occured and the loss of life is tremendous. Our prayers do indeed go out to all for all the people in this part of the world.
Pieter, I have seen other posts by puleeup in other parts of the Bella forum and this guy is a slug. This is the type of person who went to school to learn ignorance. He walks around with an eternal chip on his shoulder. If people do not bow down and kiss the ground he walks he will than get very angry with them. He critizes everything everyone does, yet fails to get his own hands dirty. Perhaps he and his pals can run around the world with some super-glue and try to glue all those plates together. In the meantime I will go around the world and try to put a plug into all the volcanos that may be a threat. Pieter and others; puleeup is like a fly, he eats garbage and bothers people.
Kai, glad to see you back. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Las Vegas and the reunion with your family.

A Happy New Year to all.
The reason I put a lot of smiley faces is because puleeup hates them .

Nancy and Bob, thank you for your reply!
I think you both are right about your assumptions.
I was just irritated about his reply.
Bob, such people are not woth my attention for longer
than the amount of time I read their posts.
Actually I like the smiley's very much too?

Pieter.Many thanks for the wishes.
That person, puleeup only goes to prove that there are some people who know absolutly nothing about everything. He claims to have a Phd in History. This proves two things: he knows the history of Post hole digging and a degree in anything can be bought on the internet.
How is everything in Holland and how is your family doing?
I have developed another skill with my photography. I now have learned how to use the Histogram and color levels. AMAZING! very old film or film with errors can now be made to look new and better. I still like the old masters and what they could do.

There is a lot being written now about the possibilities of future tsunamis and how much of our resources should be spent on sensing, notification and evacuation. I suspect it will somewhat follow the path of increased American security, but with less money and less publicity because it is not in the US.

I have heard of the highest tsunami reaching 1700' above sea level, but this is the first web site that I have seen with a photo of the area. Fortunately it was localized in a lightly used & unsettled area.

kai. I have been watching all the various films about that wave. No towering wall of water roaring down on those island. Most of the action was unseen until the wave actually hit. When natural events like this occur, man can do nothing. Some sort of early warning system might help to get people out of the way of danger but not prevent it. What is truly amazing is the speed at which the wave traveled and the lack of dead animal bodies in the wake.

Kai, of course the Israeli article may have been inacurrate about tons of supplies, as the author is not an expert on rescue missions.
Similarly the media hasn't reported the Arab rescue missions. Carl
