I am looking for a good flat iron. My hair has a mind of its own. I used to be straight but since the birth of my first child, Ive gone curly. I love the curls but would like straight once and a while. If I blow dry, I get the flips at the ends of my hair and frizzy. I am looking for a flat iron to help with that. Is ceramic really better? What about gold plated? Any advise on getting he the best results.

Many women either gain curl or lose the curl they have after child birth. The ceramic iron is better. It heats more evenly and gets hotter. You have to be careful about the 'hotter' part but if you use good products they will help protect your hair.
Have you tried Matrix Sleek Look Smoothing System. They are the best for straightening hair. ---Lite Creme not Extreme--

I have naturally wavy hair that makes me nuts! I love the sleek straight look and getting it takes me about an hour of parting into tiny sections while it is towel dry and using a ceramic flat iron. I have noticed after many times of doing this that my hair goes and stays much straighter if it is damp when i do it. I like the Chi irons, but they are kind of small, so I use a bigger one because it is faster. I recently came across a product by Farouk called BioSilk. I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!
I paid $20 for a small bottle and I would gladly pay $40. You just have to use a teeny amount, smaller than a dime. It makes your hair "slippery" and SO soft. I use it while my hair is wet before I flatiron and then again as a finisher. It smooths down those little flyaway hairs and makes my hair look very sleek and straight. I would recommend this product to anyone. I am not sure if it is a serum or what exactly, only that it works and I never want to be without it!

Hello all! I'm new the the Bella forums, but this thread intrigues me! I've heard so many good things about "BioSilk" - but no one ever mentions the exact product in the line that is helping them smooth and straight their hair - just the brand name.
Can anyone tell me the specific product from the BioSilk line they used to straighten and smooth their hair? I would SO appreciate it!
Thanks and have a wonderful day!
Hair and makeup fanatic!

Hi Carissa. Are you new to the forum? Welcome! Matrix Sleek Look Shampoo and Conditioner are excellent products.
Usually, you only hear of serums and creams for straightening because they offer more control. They help to protect the hair and sheild it from humidity so that it won't 'spring-back' right away.

Yeah I have a spray and a creme, but I never use them. My hair is only slightly wavy. Thank you though, I'll have to find those products.
