If the ends have been tinted before, use the color full strength on the new growth and add conditioner to the remainder. Then use that to work thru the rest of the hair.

I go about three shades lighter than my mouse brown hair. Most people don't think I color my hair. I even get compliments from sylists when I get my hair cut. They're impressed that I don't over process.

That is impressive, that you don't over process! It's very difficult to tint you own hair with out overlapping and over processing.

Going lighter while staying in the same color family is quite often very becoming and a safe bet. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I go with what I want my hair's color to be for that period of time. The only time I asked my hairdresser was when I was tired of having my hair pink, I asked her what would be the best color to hide it and she went with a dark brown which I liked.

The best thing about consulting a professional is they have so many shades to choose from and have had experience with many colors. They often have ideas you haven't thought of.

I choose to let my hair go gray/silver and have never looked back. I dyed it for years, but then felt I had to choose between dye or perm so was never totally happy with it.
I use purple shampoo and conditioner and it stays a lovely silver - I get lots of compliments on it.

Launa, I had to skip over to the BellaOnline site to see a picture with your silver hair. smile White or silver - or a combination - can be very attractive.

And unfortunately, most women don't get good results using both hair color and permanent waves. It's better to choose one or the other and have shiny, healthy hair.
