Why even bother with underwire? I forget how much I hate them and buy ones with underwires but I end up cutting the wires out. I've never met an underwire I could live with. I'm a 44DD and sometimes now just wear a so-called sleep-bra. It's the most comfortable thing I've ever put around these boobs yet. And yeah, we all love 'em in this house.

I also cut a small slit and pull out the underwire.

Hi.. I'm Jenny and I just wanted to add something to this discussion.

You want to talk bras... six months ago I wore a size 40 J. Yes... you read that correctly. I know .. disgusting but true. Anyway, I have always been chesty ...and I wanted to stop by to say that when I was that size, I could not buy bras at any department store that I could find. I did find a GREAT mail order place called "Lady Grace". You can go online and shop too. They have a lot of great bras in a variety of sizes. Bras that size do cost more (around 34.00 each on up), but are worth it for a good fit.

I now wear a 38 F (YEAH). I lost some weight and feel so much better..especially up top. I will always be chesty and still have a hard time finding bras that fit. Victoria's Secrets don't even sell bras in a triple D (or "F) size. Still, I can find bras at Macy's now. So that is a good thing.

But I also wanted to add that we women do not sag as we get older because we wear bras all the time. That would be a myth. We sag as we get older because of old fashioned gravity and loss of muscle tone. And anyone who is very chesty knows that you need support to delay the southward movement.

I LOVE underwire bras because I need the support. Get one that fits properly and even a big chested woman can find comfort. That's my experience anyway. -Jenny

By the way.. take it from someone who knows about the proper fit of a bra... DO NOT let the department store people talk you into going for a bigger band size to compensate for the cup size. THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. However, department store personnel have been taught and continue to suggest a larger band size if they, for instance, do not have your cup size. This is NOT the way to do it. Like Wendy Tall One said... measure the band and round up to the nearest even inch ...and then measure the fullest part of your breasts (while wearing a good bra). The difference in the two is your cup size as Wendy said. Now some places try to say to measure below your breasts (around where the band would go) and add between 3 to five inches to that to get your band size. I found that to be hogwash. I don't need three to five inches more than my band size. I just needed the proper cup size. Six months ago the difference between my band size and my breasts was ten inches...so that meant a "J" bra. Now it is 6 inches and I can wear an "F" or some people call it a triple D. -Jenny
