Now I have worn a bra since I was 10! I have therefore spent countless hours and dollars on the stupid things. I have recently quit wearing those head 'em up and move 'em out underwire things. Mainly because Bali quit making the one I wore for years and I have not had the stomach for trying on bras for hours. I am wearing a couple of cotton things by playtex that are $10 or so cheaper than my Bali ...the girls are happy and I am not being poked. But I would wear a good underwire(seamless) any ideas? In the $25 orless range...

Personally, I swear by Goddess bras. They have both underwire and non-underwire.

Here in Australia, bras for plus sizes are very expensive - not sure what they are like everywhere else.

If you are in Australia - try www.lisaslacies.com.au (actually - you should all have a look at it) - very nice lingerie (and just a few naughty things as well.

Personally, I can't stand underwire bras.

A few years back I tried my first cotton sports bra, and after that, I was hooked! It's the only bras I wear now. I usually buy mine at WalMart, and if I recall correctly, they're about $7-$8.

Queen Latifah has a new line (Curvation) at Walmart, including sports bras for curvy women...but I haven't tried them yet.

Yes, I have seen those but had no idea that they were inspired by Latifah...she is an inspiration to fat broads the world over...Her new movieTAXI starts today.

Roni - Lisas do mail order - so it's still possible to buy from them.

And I have to agree about Latifah - she, Camryn Manheim and Star Jones are 3 ladies who do a lot for us L&L's all over the world.

Janet: I also hate underwire bras. With a DD cup size, I find that they just aren't comfy.

However, a well-made softcup bra gives just as much support. I actually asked the bra expert at Big Girls Don't Cry (Anymore) (this is my local L&L lingerie shop - they are terrific!) and she said that the main differance is that the underwires separate the breasts.

Give me a softcup any time!

Ok, I'm going to probably get a little flack perhaps for fully supporting underwire bras...I LOVE THEM. But then again I'm a paltry 25 years old in the scale of life.
But my point with this post...Please Please PLEASE make sure that you get fitted when doing that dreaded bra shopping. 80% of women are wearing the wrong size and thus hating their bras. Even if you just walk into a place like Victorias Secret or Lane Bryant (both do free fittings that I'm aware of) get fitted browse a second or two and then leave. Least you'll know if you were wearing the proper size or not and that makes all the difference in the way your clothes feel your comfort and confidence =]

I have been wearing the wrong size for years because some girl told me once I was a 34 C. I am actually a D. I ahte bras and want a reduction because I HAVE to wear one or I'm all boob...lol... I like the Victoria secret ones that form to your shape...Tyra Banks advertises them on TV.. you know where she says "look at this bra..." I think it's the "You only better" one... I'm not sure, I just know where they are in the store.

I wear a 40DD and I need more support than anything I have seen at VS(do they even go that large?). I have never had grooves in my shoulders or backaches or any of that from being busty. I'm sure that is because my mother always insisted on a fitting a a good bra. I continue with that tradition. When Bali discontinued my bra that I could by w/o undressing I have not been able to screw up enough gumption to start that trying on thing again....sigh...

I've had many bra shopping horror stories. But the worst was when I was 14 and went shopping with my mom and a best friend, both of whom could fit in any style or pattern they liked. However, we couldn't find my size anywhere, so we asked the saleswoman. She directed us to ((gasp)) the grannie area of the bra store. Not that there's anything wrong with them!! But as a 14 year old you want small bras with flowery patterns...not a beige color that has full coverage and looks almost as big as a tshirt I would wear

Needless to say, I proceeded to the dressing room (with grannie bras in hand) and proceeded to cry I have had better luck since then!
