What is your favorite embroidery style or technique?

As for myself - I love doing traced linen pieces and freestyle work. I also adore needlepoint and have developed a liking for cross stitch (but only if it involves stitches other than cross and back stitch).

I love machine embroidery, in particular combining designs to make gifts. I also enjoy tapestry but that doesn't get a look in often....

I like freestyle & crewel embroidery. I especially like satin stitch because it seems to go faster for me. I started working on a cross stitch picture of wild cats in the jungle. The picture is beautiful, but I didn't realize how small the cross stitches would be and how difficult it would be on the dark background I'm suppose to stitch on.

Working on a dark background can be hard. I find that if I put a white towel or piece of material in my lap when I start stitching.

That, added to a good light over your shoulder onto the fabric, helps to be able to see the holes in the fabric.
