We've bought a lot of videos. My favorite is The Scarlet Pimpernel. The version with Anthony Andrews and Jane Seymour. The newer one is not nearly as good. "Sink me" - I LOVE that movie.
But my favorite thing that happened on Ebay was when I actually made some money. My son gave some boxes of my old art books to his father-in-law, Al, who regularly sells yard sale stuff at online auctions. I'd been hauling those books around for years and rarely looked at them.
Al doesn't generally make a ton of money on what he sells. So he was really impressed when the bidding on my Chagal book of pictures from the bible went up to around $200. But that was before it got hot and heavy.
That evening my daughter-in-law went to check out what the book had sold for. $2020. She was flabbergasted
and called her parents. Her Mom said Al was resting. She said that once the bidding had really gotten going, he kept calling to her in the next room, "Come look - it's over $400!" "Now it's over $600!" He just couldn't take all the excitement and had to lay down and take a nap when it was all over and the book had sold for over $2000!
We all had a good laugh.
