It would seem the British tabloids are having a field day with David Beckham's new neck tattoo.... what do you think?

Haven't seen it yet? There's a picture with the new article, the Tattoos of David Beckham

I got to browse the new Vanity Fair at a newstand the other day, and there are some good photos of all of Beckham's tattoos by Annie Lebowitz that go with the cover article on him.

There's a small pic of him up on their site right now

the guys is a stud but I think his tattoo is sad. I think more thought needs to go into tattoos then someones name in another language. Yeah.. i'm probably insulting some people here. I don't mean to. I just think you should come up with some symbols that respresent the one you love (or loved) that the tattoo is going to represent and come up with some art. Do more than letters.

I have to say I agree, tattoos are a form of self expression to walk into a shop and just pick something off the wall is perposterous!! It has to reflect you, it is your story in ink under you skin....tell it with love and imagination!!! You want to be proud of that tattoo in 50 years....Otherwise you will be paying to have it covered up someday!! (I know from personal experience) Anyways, just wanted to add my two cents!!!

I couldn't agree more. I ask myself do I want this tattoo when I'm 60. I can say yes to the 4 I have, but there was a good chance I could have ended up with a goofy ordinary tattoo when I first started. Luckily I found one that represented my life to a tee. Nicci

sadly my sister has a confederate flag across her left shoulder blade with a chevy emblem below that. I shudder when I think about it but they both have a special meaning to her. She thinks she is a "rebel" and thats why she has the flag. She loves chevy trucks... oh god.. i'm gonna vomit again.

In any case. The poor girl will be covering up some of her tattoo's at some point in her life. She has a humming bird on her right arm also and a dragon on her right shoulder blade. I think I have a photo around here some where. I lover her dearly but I wish she'd have read some of the advice from these forums.

I've always felt the statement that "we all get the tattoo we deserve" is very true. You might not like someone else's choice of skin art, but it might be exactly what they want and need, or deserve....

I think age has so much to do with it, too. 10 or 15 years ago, I might have gotten the confederate flag, too. I was a rebellious Texas girl with no realization what the emblem symbolized in part and yes, today I would be trying to figure out how someone would fix it. Today my tattoos are more thought out and like Rae said, longer inbetween. I have one new tattoo that an older person might think I will regret when I am 60, but I won't because it means something internal and spiritual to me. To them it will be the picture and that alone.

My sister is 21 and from washington state. She was born and raised there. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> heheh.

I like the thought that everyone gets the tattoo we deserve.

Ash,
Like I said that is what I might have done at 21, too. I think everyone gets the tattoo they want if they are introspective even if it is a subconscious decision.
