You know how in FFX there were like, 3 different quality levels of cutscenes? There was:
1- the best quality FMVs (like the love scene)
2- the CGs with okay quality (like the "prelude" cutscene in Zanarkand in the very begining of the game)
3-the regular CGs with the least quality.
Well, in FFX2, the quality of most of the CGs has increased noticably. Especially the level 2 CGs. I notice Yuna and others have a lot more facial expressions in those CGs. The 3rd level of CGs are still the same.
And suppossedly, they used more polygons in the FMVs, but I honestly didn't really notice.
Imo, the FMVs in FFX are still the best. Most of the FMVs are actual scenes, like where Yuna is just talking to another character. There aren't as many well choreographed and really dramatic scenes as there was in FFX (like "The Dance" scene, "The Spring" scene, etc). I personally didn't even find the 1000 words FMV to be that emotional.
But again, I'm not putting down FFX2. I enjoyed playing it and it is a quality game (except for the glitched up good ending). I am just spoiled from the many awesome FMVs in FFX. Ppl say I shouldn't complain bc FFX2 was just meant as a sequel to FFX and sequels usually have less quality. Still, I believe there are no rules that a sequel has to be worse in quality, and there are no rules that a FFX sequel has to have 42 less FMVs than it's predecessor. And that those FMVs have to have 50% less dramatic punch than those of its predecessor.
Anyway, I know most ppl cry when they see the 1000 words FMV, so maybe there's just something wrong with me. I just know that the feeling I get from watching that love scene in FFX doesn't even compare to even the most dramatic FMV in FFX2.
