I never thought about something happening to the animals if we should get in an accident. ICE info is awfully important knowledge. What if no one knows there had been animals in the car. The could be tossed from the car, still in a carrier or worst, no protection at all. Be stuck in a ditch and no one would ever see the poor thing.
