Related Physical ConditionsIn regard to stomach issues with thyroid disease, constipation is what often affects hypothyroid patients, while frequent diarrhea affects hyperthyroid patients. When thyroid disease is the autoimmune type (most common cause) patients are also at higher risk for other autoimmune prolems like Crohn's Disease and Pernicious Anemia (inability of the stomach to absorb B12) which is due to auto-antibodies attacking a protein in the stomach called "intrinsic factor" that absorbs B12 from foods.
