Hi,
I have always suffered with insomnia because of my illness. Often I will wake up a few times thorugh the night and struggle to sleep. But things have never been this bad. I also suffer from noise sensitivity which my doctor tells me is normal for someone with my illness. At the moment we are living in a house that is very close to a row of shops. We have recently begun decorating the house so that we can put it on the market to sell hopefully next September as it has become too noisy at night.
My problem is that a bar has now been opened on this row of shops and there are more air conditioning units attached to the shops then ever before. There are also refrigeration units. They are switched on all the time. Although we have double glazing, since the new units have been added the hum and buzz of them is driving me to despair. I cannot get this particular noise out of my head. It is like torture to me. Its so bad that I absolutely dread bedtime. In the day I just break into tears easily because I feel a wreck and my pain is worse than ever. My husband has no problem sleeping with the noise and it is not as if it is very loud. The noise itself is quite low but to me it sounds really loud, its a bit like listening to the hum of a large refrigerator. To me it is piercing. There are other louder noises that don't seem to affect me as much. Even when I go to another room to sleep I can still hear the noise now.
I'm thinking of buying a sleep conditioner that has white noise, or the sound of a beach or a river to mask out the sound. But with my noise sensitivity problem I'm not sure if it will work for me. If anyone has used one of these machines please let me know if it worked.
If anyone has any insomnia advice or anything that has worked for them please let me know.
Thank you in advance.
