hey ,
beating shinru is easy...al you need to do is get your tidus or wakka strong and have there celestial weapons,i use tidus cuz wakka is rubbish
anyway at the start of the battle have tidus kill off wakka and rikku so now shinryu cant use his eraser attack
if tidus has the coladborg (spelling?) then he will counter attack all of shinryus attacks except for the shining
but shinryu also counters, cast haste on tidus and use quick hits when you have the chance
once your limit is full just use blitz ace
also try not to let your hp drop to beneth 8,000
