It's no wonder you love ants so much, there are nearly 12,000 KNOWN species, which means there are probably many more that are yet to be discovered!

I did a study in college, where we tested dfor ants in a nature preserve, to see which are native and which are invasive. The studied showed, as predicted, an increase in the number of invasive ants (the actual ants, not the number of species) compared to natives.

What may have been even more interesting was how quickly the ants "attacked" the bits of hot dog we used as bait. I heard that a piece of food, anywhere in the world, will have ants on in within 10 minutes. I don't know if it's true, but everywhere I've ever done it has proved it to be the case!
