While the SciFi miniseries completely forgot about the Suk tattoo, they did include at least two Fremen tattoos. First, Stilgar, leader of the Fremen. He has a worm squiggling on his brow:



Next, Jamis, who challenges Paul to a duel, sports an Oriental-type tattoo on his shoulder:



Strangely, Chani, who I think is the only one mentioned in the book as having a tattoo, doesn't seem to have one. And since you see pretty much her entire body naked during the miniseries (which I'm sure helped propel its popularity) I don't think it's hiding anywhere <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I too recall Dune mentioning Chani as having some sort of tribal identification tattoos on her temples. I've been re-reading to find the exact reference and haven't found it yet.

The ink-vine whips used by the Harkonnens are described as leaving a red tattoo-like scar on the person hit with them. Gurney Halleck has one of these scars on his jawline from a past encounter with Rabban.

wow... i haven't been here in over a year... thought i'd pop my little trolling self back in... (got a new tattoo about a month and a half ago) and I see this fantastic thread on dune. (i'm a huge fan)

I always wondered why in mini series they didn't ad tattoos to the fremens... perhaps tattoos weren't in fashion enough like they are now? (suicide girls etc.)
