I recently discovered a book at my local library entitled "Kid Authors - True Tales of Childhood From Famous Writers".
This book was written by David Stabler and illustrated by Doogie Horner.

Sectioned into three parts, these stories highlight moments and memories from each author's childhood.

Part One - It's Not Easy Being A Kid
J. R. R. Tolkien
J. K. Rowling
Edgar Allan Poe
Sherman Alexie
Lewis Carroll
Laura Ingalls Wilder

Part Two - All in the Family
Zora Neale Hurston
Mark Twain
Langston Hughes
Jules Verne

Part Three - The Write Stuff
Roald Dahl
Stan Lee
Beverly Cleary
Lucy Maud Montgomery
Jeff Kinney

It was interesting to read the events that lead these individuals to begin their writing careers.
No spoilers from me, but I do hope that you check this book out.
If you do, let me know what you think!
