BellaOnline Forums TV and Movies Drama Movies New Gilda Radner Doc Will Open Tribeca Film Fest

"Love, Gilda", a new documentary produced and directed by Lisa D'Apolito, will open New York's Tribeca Film Festival on April 18th. Tribeca's CEO Jane Rosenthal stated, “As a festival that has always supported women’s voices and is largely run by women, we are incredibly proud to celebrate the inimitable voice of Gilda during the opening night of our festival."

Tribeca will announce its feature film program on March 7th.

Magnolia Pictures picked up the distribution rights to "Love, Gilda". Expect the film ,directed by Lisa D'Apolito, in US theaters in the next few months.

Update: Director Lisa D'Apolito has revealed that while making "Love, Gilda", she discovered a previously unknown screenplay written by Gilda Radner. D'Apolito is looking for producers who would be interested in what she feels is a great script. The protagonist is a female torn between two lovers but ultimately decides she is better off on her own. Would be great if there was a role for SNL alum Jane Curtin in the film.
