Heya Nancy...just thought I'd share. As you know, I'm not terribly afraid of spiders unless they surprise me, but...
I started a part time job the other day. Everything went fine until I had to put a partial case of pre-made cookies back into the freezer. The woman pointed to where they were supposed to go but I couldn't go there. It was in the far left corner of the freezer. (She had her foot on the door the whole time, but wanted me to go farther in). I couldn't.
She finally realized I wasn't going any further. She told me I could place them on a stack of boxes that was at the front, but someone may get mad...my thought...do not freaking care. Ain't going in any further.

I hope you do not lose your job over this.
It must be a terrible phobia to have. I only freak out when I am in very tight spots, then I think about being stuck there. I do not panic or anything like that but I am scared. The worst is when you cannot move and there's just one way to get out or in.
Have you seen Aliens? There's a scene that would give claustrophobia to anyone in it (wont say which ones in case you or anyone else reading this has not seen it).

Jana, the first time I tried to take a mri, I could not do it. I just had a panic attack and had to get out of there after I tried to take a deep breath, but I couldn't inhale properly. I was wedged into that machine so tightly that my muscles in my ribs didn't work right.

Hey Connie...I feel your pain there. I couldn't even go in to begin with. I'd have to have an open MRI. Not sure I could make it even then. Deep breath! Elevators...same issue. And I've been caught in a couple that got stuck, by myself. Pushed the button repeatedly...Had my kindle. Thankfully. Whew!

I closed my eyes before I went into the second one. It wasn't open, but it was shorter and wider. I had ear buds in and a cd with waves going. Then, I used my meditation skills. The mri idea doesn't bother me now.
