A small list of African orchids, epiphytes as well as terrestrials. I have not grown these orchids personally, though but I have tried to put together those species which are worth cultivating.
There are more than 3500 species of orchids inhabiting the African continent. But this number should not be taken as the final count of the African orchids. The dense equatorial forests of Central Africa have many more undiscovered species of orchids.
There are many regions in Africa where internal strife is going on. The orchid flora of these areas too, is incompletely known.
Madagascar, in Africa, is an island inhabited with a lot of endemic plants (of course, orchids) and animals. This is because of its seclusion from rest of the world.
