Here's something beautiful to lift you up today. Wavelight. It's a remarkable timelapse made from 10,000 stills taken at the Wave formation in Arizona. The sky and the formation are individually exquisite, but when combined so that you get star trails and the waves in the sandstone, it's stunning.

Here is a still from the video WAVELIGHT. It shows the wave pattern in the Jurassic sandstone rocks echoed by the curves of the star trails. Polaris, the North Star, is at the center of the circles. It's the star that's just above the Earth's axis, so it doesn't move during the night. The other stars do seem to move as the Earth turns, so if you leave the camera shutter open, you get a star trail.
