In today's article, I argued that access to clean water should be considered a human right. Do you agree with me? Why or why not?

I do agree with you, Andria. It seems to me that something that is so essential should be a basic right.

Coincidentally, I have begun researching investing in water for my site. Filtering, sanitizing, piping, and providing water is big business. Many feel water is our most valuable commodity. There are ETFs to invest in the stocks of companies who provide these industry services.

I fully understand how this fits in with capitalism, but wouldn't it be lovely to put all that effort to voluntarily and freely helping those who need water?

i'm in agreement with both of you guys. Since water is so necesary to life, it HAS to be a human right. period.

Thanks for your responses, guys. I like what you said, Sandra, about how nice it would be to put so much voluntary effort into helping people who need water. That really would be amazing. I'm sure there are programs out there dedicated to that very cause.

And I (of course) agree with your statement, marceline. We can't live without water, and one of our protected rights in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is the right to life. It just makes sense that access to water would be a human right.
